Brief introduction:

Institute of law, Kurukshetra University is one of the top 20 law colleges in India. It is one of the first law colleges established in Haryana. Kurukshetra University has been accredited A+ by NAAC. Being a part of the University campus, Institute of law has its own charm and perks. Along with the facilities imparted by the Institution, one enjoys the fabulous amenities provided by the University as well such as the University Market, Jawahar lal Nehru Library , the river-side park, the ICH, auditorium ,Darohar and many more.


Institute of law, Kurukshetra University is located in Kurukshetra where the battle of Mahabharata was fought. It is also known as the "Land of Bhagwat Gita". The campus of Kurukshetra University is situated on the western bank of BrahmSarovar (the holy tank) and extends over an area of 400 acres. Kurukshetra lies at a distance of 160 km from New Delhi and about 80 km from Chandigarh - city with the nearest airport.

  • Campus: Institute of Law has an enticing building laced with all the modern infrastructural facilities. The Institute has a big parking lot. Situated in the lush green campus of Kurukshetra University, the Institute is surrounded by well-maintained parks and the view is simply a visual treat. It has its own fully air-conditioned moot court room which is decently furnished. Class rooms are also spacious.The Central Canteen is just behind the Institute which offers quality food at reasonable prices. One can also try the delicious food at food-joints located at the third gate. The Institute also provides smart class room facility along with a decent computer lab and Wi-Fi access to all the students.

  • Library: Institute has a well-stocked library and if the departmental library doesn’t serve the purpose one can always go to the Central Library of the University which accommodates millions of books and has a well-built, fully ac dedicated building offering all the possible comforts to students.

Academics and Faculties:

Institute has well- qualified faculties. Some teachers are good and some are awesome. But the teachers are only torch-bearers , they just guide the path but one has to travel on his own. They do not spoon-feed their students. However, many of them really bother about the future of the students and do all the possible efforts to motivate them. However, the syllabus is very badly drafted. It hardly gets completed on time.

Administration and fee structure :

The administration is just fine, just like any other government University. As far as fees is concerned, B.A.LL.B. is a self-financing course and the fees varies every year. Currently, it is near INR 75000/- p.a.


Institute is just on a distance of few steps from the central canteen.

Student culture and activities:

The activities include:

Intra-moot courts, Client-Counselling Competitions, Legal-aid Camps, Rostrum, Debates, Elocution, Sports Fest, An amazing Law fest –Lexiris and Ratnawali.

Placement :

The Institute provides placement to the interested students in reputed firms.

Worst thing:

Delayed results, Pathetic timings, Syllabus should be revised, needs administrative reforms.
