LAW SCHOOL REVIEW: FACULTY OF LAW, KALINGA UNIVERSITY, RAIPUR CHHATTISGARH

· Introduction-


Kalinga University, Raipur is established in the year of 2013 and it is located in the Smart City of Atal Nagar. It has emerged as a centre of excellence of higher education in Central India. Kalinga University is providing a very good way of life for the student to brighten their future. In this University students not only study about their subjects, but also they learn about the ability to make decisions for their professional life.This University has started carving a niche for itself in the education domain and is rising as a shining star on the horizon of quality education. Currently the University is serving the students community through 13 schools offering UG and PG programs.



· Location-


The campus is located in the Capital of Chhattisgarh. It is 30 km from the Railway station and 15 km from the Airport.

· Infrastructure-


The Academic Block is spread over 4 floors in 3 storied buildings.

Campus- Infrastructure consists of Student Hostel facilities, Green Gardens, Canteen, Food Mess, Gymnasiums, Fully Wi-fi Campus, ATM, Mini Market, Student hangout Areas, Sports Complex and Halls with Indoor Games and Music and recreation activities.

Library- The Central Library of University has a collection of over 70,000 books and also offers Digital content through membership of DELNET. Various magazines and Journals are available for the use of the faculty and students. The University provides a library card for the issuance of books. Every student has one account where he can issue 2 books for the period of 15 days.

Hostel- We have four Hostels in the campus premises, three for the boys and one for the girls, every hostel has a separate mess for breakfast, lunch and dinner.There are some restrictions like outing time. We have to enter into the campus at 7:00 in the evening.



· Academics and Faculties


Course Structure- The course is built on the semester system with each year containing two semesters.

Class Hours- Classes begin at 09:00 in the morning and go on till 03:45 in the afternoon with a break of 50 minutes.

The well qualified faculty members who come from top educational institutions. Over the past few years, the Faculty has made significant progress in terms of restructuring of courses and syllabi, introducing new courses, experimenting with innovative techniques of imparting legal education and strengthening its clinical programme in order to give due emphasis to the expanding horizons of the legal profession.



· Administration and fee structure


Administration- The administration is efficient and strictly follows the rules and procedures set by the University. It is tedious at times provide an application for the smallest works. Though, it helps instil a professional behaviour from the very beginning.



· Cafeteria


We have 2 canteens in the campus premises. One is main canteen which is attached into the new building and the second one is mini canteen which is in the garden area and food quality is average for both the canteens.



· Student culture and activities


For the improvement of our communication skills we have a soft skills class every week. We also participate and organise Legal aid camp, Debate competition, Client counselling competition, Moot court, Quiz competition etc. We also organize National Moot Court Competitions.


Other co-curricular activities-Our faculties prepare a schedule for other co-curricular activities like Court visit, Jail visit etc.There is also an annual college fest which is a 3 days event full of fun and frolic.



· Placement

The college provides good internship placements and maintains strict professionalism when it comes to handling internships.



· Best thing

The faculties encourage us to participate in various competitions like moot court, client counselling, article writing, paper presentation, quiz etc. And they also help to prepare for the competitions.



· Worst thing

The tedious procedures that need to be followed to get any work done. And the emphasis given to 75% attendance mark.



· Other thing

All in all, the environment of the University is very good for study and also for the enjoyment of college life. As I have learned one thing from my past experiences that,Law is a subject in which you cannot depend completely on someone else, you have to work hard and achieve your goal in life.
