· Application Process with Contact Details
One has to send their application with CV and an original Statement of Purpose within 500 words on any of the area they wish to work , there are three areas under which a person might work :-
- Right to Education
- Right to food
- Juvenile Justice
The SOP should be forwarded on the email id: ccl@nls.ac.in under the heading of “Application for internship” at least 2-3 months prior to the specified date of internship.
On the basis of written SOP selection of intern is done and then the information will be sent via mail.
· First day formalities
On the first day you have to meet the Programme Head and the introduction about the work is given, they also assign the work or topic on which you have to perform in upcoming one month.
· Infrastructure
The office is located on 1st floor of Academic block in National Law school campus, which has one of the biggest office among all the research centre offices under NLSIU. The office has a conference area where all the meetings and presentation takes place.
The interns are made to work in National law School library which is a very neat&clean and silent place and is considered Asia’s largest law library and has a documentation centre.
· Main tasks
Since I was working under Right Education head under CCL, on very first day I was asked to to read various articles on Education and select a topic, which I might find interesting and would be willing to work I found such a topic and started working on it. I had to give my work progress report daily to Niranjan Sir, he used to give me further guidance on the topic and provide me with relevant reading materials.
At the end of the internship I was supposed to give a presentation on my Project topic and hand over the report to sir. I also got an opportunity to rapporteur and prepare the report of One day consultation on the Primary stakeholders on draft a National Policy on Education .
· Work Environment with Peers
The work environment was amazing, all my intern mates were very friendly and helpful. It was so much fun working with them.
· Stipend
None, knowledge is all that you gain.
· Good things
The library is well equipped and up to date. You are given to work and use books inside NLSIU library which is very resourceful.
After the internship your writing, reading, researching skills will improve a lot.
· Office timings
Timings of the office was : 9:30am - 5:00 pm Mon to Fri and Saturday was half day and the lunch timing was 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm.
· Accommodation
We were lucky enough to get the accommodation inside the Hostel of NLSIU itself. Condition being , apply as early as possible.
The food inside the College is very cheap and good. There are lot of food joints nearby as well.
If you don't get a hostel room, you can easily get PG in nagarbhavi.
· Other Info.
My chill out sessions used to be, going to library and reading books. I also loved the time which I spent discovering various food places and the weather of Bangalore is always cloudy so you can easily explore the nearby places like Nandi hills etc.
