INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE @ PAREKH & CO. BARAKHAMBA, NEW DELHI

NAME OF THE INSTITUTION:

PAREKH & CO., world trade tower, New Barakhamba road, Connaught lane, Barakhamba, New Delhi 110001.

NAME OF THE INTERN, COLLEGE, YEAR:

RAVEENA PANICKER, FIMT, 1ST YEAR

DURATION:

1st June 2018 – 30TH June 2018.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

I applied in the firm through an online site, sent my CV to the given email at sumit.goel@parekhco.com ; there was no interview for the internship.

FIRST DAY:

The 1st day was very decent, I was required to fill in all my details in a register at the reception, I was introduced to everyone. One of the interns explained me how others worked here, introduced me to all the associates. There is work load on the first day; the day went on with just observing how things worked out in the firm.

INFRASTRUCTURE:

The office is housed in building in barakhamba road with around 15-20 advocates including the partners. The interns sat on the 1st floor of the building. The floor was in fact meant for clients conference and doubled as a lunch room for all of us

MAIN TASK:

Parekh & co is a litigation firm; they had a lot of work related to all the fields. Since, I was a 1st year student at that time ,I wasn’t given any big work, mostly work given to me was related to research work, proof readings, making list of dates and to observe the arbitration cases and to read solved case files and make notes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PEERS:

The people in the office were very supportive and helpful, even though there is huge workload everyone made sure to calm and helpful to each other. The associates were also chill, they talked me and made sure I was comfortable, they treated all the interns as family

BEST THING:

The best thing about working in parekh & co. was that I learnt the application of sections and acts in the disputes and how to keep improving my research skills. The associate were extremely supportive, they made sure that I understood everything and took care of everything, they weren’t that strict, a friendly relation was maintained along with professionalism

WORST THING:

since I joined in the month of June when the work load is already low and me being a 1st year student at that time, opportunities hardly came through my way, no interesting task was assigned to me.

STIPEND:

No stipend

OFFICE TIMINGS:

the timings for the interns was 10-5pm (Mon-Fri)

OTHER INFO:

Though I could not experience as much as I was expecting but I learnt a lot. Since, it was my 1st internship, learnt how to be social, confident, how to work in under workload and yet to have relaxed workplace environment around. But sure it would be a very enriching experience if anyone would intern under them.
