· Duration of Internship

1.5 months (From 16th December,2019 to 30th January, 202)

· Application process

Interested applicants can send their CV to the email: info[at]diwanadvoctes.com, the team replies within 1-2 days to the shortlisted candidates. The minimum period of an internship should be 21 days.

· First day formality

I was asked to reach the office by 10a.m. Being excited for my first ever internship I was already there by 9 a.m. After waiting for an hour or so I was guided to my table by an associate very warmly. Not long ,I was given a case file to read and was suppose to report about the facts, judgments of the case to one of the senior associates.

· Infrastructure

The office is in the basement of one building. There are two main rooms which are the offices of senior associates. Other than that, there is a big well litted hall with many desks where all the other associates work together. The interns are made to sit in one of these desks. This enables them to engage and work in close cooperation with other skilled associates. The environment and vibe is very cooperative, engaging and friendly. The work load is hardly felt.

· Main task

The main task assigned to me was

1. Drafting of Applications and synopsis of different cases.

2. Reading and Reviewing of Case files.

3. Research Work pertaining to the criminal investigation system, Arbitration and Conciliation Act.

4. Legal Drafting.

5. Court Visits to Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, Patiala House court and NCLT

6. Detailed study on different sections and new laws.

· Work environment and peers

The best thing about the internship was probably the engaging and collaborative work environment. Each associate was skilled in whatever work or case they dealt with and never hesitated in helping me out wherever I stuck. Every once or twice in a week the interns had to accompany them to attend proceedings at SC and HC. During the course, the procedures and peculiarities of the case in hand was comprehensively explained. I remember getting career counseling and guidance from some of them

· Stipends

None.

· Best thing

Work environment and court visits. Also they gave tea or coffee twice a day .

· Worst things

I don’t find any.

· Office timing

10a.m to 6p.m (Though, the timings were relaxed.)

· Accommodation

The firm doesn’t provide with any sort of accommodation. I stayed with one of my relatives based in Delhi itself.

· Other info

It is a fun internship with a lot to learn especially practically. Lajpat Nagar is just 5 minutes away, in case you get bored. Moreover, if you want to have a relaxed time with no huge responsibilities or risks, it is a good place to be in. One of the biggest lessons one can get to learn there was that you might have a big name and you might be very well respected in your professional life but unless and until you are humble and well aware of your roots, all of the above mentioned things don’t matter.
