· Duration of Internship and timings

There are basically two internship opportunities provided by BSLSA: The Summer internship and The Winter internship. The summer internship starts from 1st week of May and after submissions of all the Application they announce the result in the last week of May.

My internship program was the winter internship program which started from 3rd of January to 23rd of January. For the first batch it was from 11:30 to 1:30 pm and for the second batch it was from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. The timing was slightly different on the days when we had jail visits or visits to the court or Ngo’s.

· First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

As first day is always an exciting day on every internship so I was too excited but also a bit nervous. The building of BSLSA is quite spacious and at good place in the middle of city so one can easily reach there.

After all the formalities of attendance and documentation A judicial officer who is also the intern coordinator, Kunal sir came and we had an introduction session then he gave a brief introduction about BSLSA and its schemes, and also told us about its work nature and hierarchy. Then he gave us a project write up which we had to submit till the last day of internship.

· Main tasks

The main task at the BSLSA was to attain the lectures which were given by highly experienced and adept persons in that particular field, on which our everyday lectures, were based. We mainly had lectures about the ADR-mechanisms, The various schemes of NALSA and so on. And also they organized different visit as jail visit, mediation center visit, court visit, Lok Adalat visit and NGO’s visits. We were supposed to participate actively in each of these programs.

· Work environment and people

The building was spacious and staffs were very cooperative. There was a friendly work environment. We got tremendous opportunity to meet few of the great intellectuals of their field like Amruta Soni for transgender’s right and protection and Director of Judicial Academy Bihar, and many judicial officers. There were guest lectures for introduction on child rights, women rights, man and women trafficking. These special lectures by honorable officers was of great help in understanding the day today rights , duties and the crimes prevailing in the society.

We had got a subject to research in and to make FAQs for legal awareness program. We attended Help Age Foundation’s workshop and launching of old age Android app useful for old citizens. We met with other NGOs and tried to learn the way of their working and facts.

· Best things

The lectures were interesting and there were many things to learn upon, they had class on most of the legal things and rights including RTI, an introduction to it and how to file and procedures of 1st appeal and 2nd appeal and further process. The place is very Beneficial for the students if they are going for 1st internship. The programs were very informative and worth attaining.

· Worst things

There was nothing bad in BSLSA, except the lecture hall, that was a bit small, and the lecturer was not properly visible as we had to sit back to back.

· Stipend

No stipend.

· Biggest Lessons

Attaining lectures will definitely give you many information about your general legal rights. We got opportunity to visit many NGOs that was really beneficial and also the good contacts for obvious reasons like your next internship and all.

Jail visit, meditation center, child home center and legal awareness visits were really helpful and informative.

· Accommodation

No accommodation services were provided by the BSLSA but as it is situated in the middle of the city so one can easily find some place on rent.

· Office Timings

As there were two batches for internship program, each batch contained nearly 50 interns, the timing was different for each batch. Our timing was from 11.30 am to 01.30 pm and second batch’s timing was from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

· Other information

It is best place if you are doing internship for those who are beginners in the field of law i.e., mainly the 1st and the 2nd year students. Officials are friendly and we can learn many things from them.
